South African Public Protector (Ombudsman) Thuli Madonsela, who is leaving office at the end of the week after completing her term of office, says she is hoping to wrap up her investigation on allegations of state capture by the Gupta family this week.
She is expected to have another meeting with President Jacob Zuma on Monday. Madonsela is winding up her work before she leaves office at the end of the week.
She says she is ready to finalise her preliminary report. "We have made an arrangement that he (President Zuma) will answer those questions, first, by way of affidavit and secondly, we will meet with him, to tie up whatever loose ends. So, we agreed on Monday and I have no reason to doubt the integrity of the President."
The newly-appointed Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane will start work on Oct 15.
