Minister of Maghreb, African Union and Arab League Affairs Abdelkader Messahel isl representing Algeria at the 4th Africa-Arab Summit beginning Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on Wednesday.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement here Tuesday that the summit, being held under the theme, "Together for sustainable development and economic co-operation", would focus on the assessment of progress achieved in the implementation of the action plan adopted at the 3rd summit, held in Kuwait in 2013.
The discussions at the two-day summit would also focus on ways likely to deepen African-Arab co-operation framework at a time when Africa and the Arab world are working to collectively take up the common challenges they are facing.
The holding of the summit showed the willingness of the African and Arab States to give a new boost to their co-operation framework whose founding principle was retained at the Arab League Summit, held in Algiers in November 1973, the statement noted.
